Here at Chamaca Arts We are inspired to be producers of our own culture. Women experience everyday life differently than men. Traditional gender roles corner women into juggling multiple responsibilities in the home, at the workplace and in the community. As a result women have a unique knowledge of the environment and the importance of sustainability. Women are rebuilding pride, confidence, independence and sustainability by crafting, creating and inventing.
When purchasing and item at Chamaca Arts you are supporting the Artist or Crafter directly. With many items being of fair trade, environmentally friendly and totally hand crafted we are sure that the recipient of the handmade gift receives something that is one-of-a-kind, and made with care and attention that can be seen and touched.
It is the result of skill and craftsmanship that is absent in the world of large-scale manufacturing. Our ties to the local and human sources of our goods have been lost but buying handmade helps us reconnect and celebrate.
A portion of the proceeds will be used for the Chamaca Chica annual Scholarship.
